Summary

Chapter 74: Rikshospital. 10 May 2000.

Harry and Halvorsen viewed Brandhaug’s body on the autopsy table. Halvorsen couldn’t stop retching from the stench. Brandhaug had been hit in the back and the bullet took out part of his vertebrae. He had been shot in the morning by the garage. He was probably heading for work. Forensics was doing a ballistics analysis on the bullet but Harry was confident that it matched the ammunition he had found. Preliminary testing indicated that Brandhaug had been drinking. Female DNA had been found under his fingernails.

They visited Elsa Brandhaug. Harry didn’t think she was taking her husband’s death all that badly. She would be staying with her sister although there would be a police guard stationed outside. They were tracing telephone transmissions made in his office. Elsa had not received any threatening calls...
