The Power of "The Fountain"

The Fountain's role as a deity gives it great power over the kingdom's people. The Queen's Poisoner is the first book in the Kingfountain series. The name of the series indicates that The Fountain plays an important role. The Fountain is said to be responsible for the supernatural powers of a select few as well as being the power people assume to be in charge of their world. The superstition about The Fountain prompts the superstitious people to throw coins into it even when the people have no money for food.
