Summary

“Who Do You Think You Were?” is related from the perspective of a third person narrator. This story contains four different distant relatives living in four different times between 1787 and 2015. However, the main character of the story is a 24-year-old graduate student named Caroline Gladwell who is looking through her family tree to complete her thesis project for an MA in Economic History. Caroline works at the reading room of the British Library and uses her connections there to do much of her research. She enjoys looking back through her family tree and she is fascinated by the process of placing stories to history, which she finds humanizes her family tree.
