This is the home of Duke University and the surrounding suburbia where the Fitzwilliams have settled down. This setting, while quaint, is really the result of Felix's desires. Ella had wanted to live in California, in a rural country house but Felix was not open to that idea. The result is a house that Felix has completely retooled, but an outdoor garden that is Ella's attempt to give the house a more rural feeling.
