Chapter 4-7 Summary

Chapter four opens with Elijah waking up. Elijah begins to ask more questions about the people of Solaria. Daneel explains that the holographic view used to visit with Gruer the day before is the only way that people see each other. Elijah is upset that he is expected not to see people in order to investigate the case. The viewer used with Gruer was state of the art but leaves Elijah feeling that there was a lot that is lacking in a non physical visitation. The Solarians call the use of the holographic communication "viewing" rather than "seeing", and consider the two things completely different.

Later that day, Elijah views Gladia, the wife of the victim. Gladia is very attractive and claims to know a little about Earth, but while on the viewer, Elijah is taken aback by the fact that...
