Hayduke, alone, waits until he thinks the rangers have left Lizard Rock. When he approaches, however, a dog alerts the guards, and the chase begins. He runs towards the Maze, knowing they will shoot him down and knowing he will take some of them down with him. He reaches the edge of the rim as he hears gunshots.
