Summary

The Lotterys eat dinner on the porch, which they call the Derriere. Earlier in the day, Sic and Catalpa had gone scuba diving to see a wrecked ship, and they now tell the others about it. Grumps listens to the conversation but says nothing, and Sumac grows frustrated because she feels he is judging the family and she is unable to read on her old bed.

On Saturday, nine of the Lotterys go to the beach -- Catalpa declines, and PapaDum takes Grumps to the dentist. While waiting for the family to depart, Sumac plays basketball with Wood and almost accidentally hits their neighbor, Mrs. Zhao, with the ball. Brian becomes angry because she wants to ride her bike without training wheels to the beach, and Aspen has trouble finding shoes. Finally, the family travels to the beach, where they swim in the water...
