Summary

In Chapter 22, Lewyn enjoys his summer art history course and spends time with Rochelle. Johanna sounds sad whenever they talk on the phone. One evening, Lewyn and Rochelle run into Jonas and his friend Mark. Jonas invites the couple to Palmyra to attend the Mormon pageant he is in. Mark offers to drive them. Rochelle feels deeply uncomfortable with their insistence and with Jonas's remark about Mormons being historically oppressed.

Lewyn manages to convince Rochelle to come along, though she draws the line at entering the Sacred Grove at Palmyra. After exploring the grove, Lewyn rejoins Mark and Rochelle to head to the pageant together. They spot Jonas, who introduces them to a couple of his female friends.
