Geralt
Called the “witcher of Rivia” by some, Geralt stresses that he is from no place. His itinerant lifestyle means that he does not call anywhere his real home; “ “I’m called Geralt. Geralt of—No. Only Geralt. Geralt of nowhere. I’m a witcher” (114). He was taken from his parents at a young age as is the custom for witchers, and brought to Kaer Morhen, where he underwent mutations to become a witcher. These resulted in the white hair he is known for. At times, Geralt’s reputation precedes him. When Queen Calanth invites him to her banquet she remarks on his fame; “And your fame, Geralt. Old men at fairs and markets sing of the exploits of the white-haired witcher from Rivia” (126). Yennefer also mentions on meeting him that she knows of him. Due to his infamy, his presence in the Melitele’s temple does not escape...
