Friendship

A major theme in "The Last of the Sky Pirates" is friendship. Rook acquires many friendships throughout this story. As the novel begins, his best friend is Felix Lodd who is a favorite to be chosen as a Librarian Knight elect. Rook is happy and excited for his friend even as he feels sorry for himself since he will lose his friend. When Rook is chosen instead, Felix does not appear to say goodbye, but he leaves his sword with Rook's belongings, symbolically expressing his love and concern for his friend. As Rook sets out for Lake Landing with Stob and Magda, he does not get along with Stob at first, but he becomes quick friends with Magda.
