Summary

In Chapter 27, Petra begins a dream in which she is sitting beneath a pinon tree with Lita and her pet turtle Rapido. Lita is brushing Petra's hair. The rabbit is nearby. When he hops away, Petra has no desire to follow. She wants to remain with Lita. Lita reminds Petra that “you can't' lose me” (261). When Petra sees a “glitch” in the mountain, she tells Lita that she is being reprogrammed. When she reaches for Lita's hand, Lita is gone. Petra runs after the rabbit. She soon hears ranchero music. She trusts her ears more than her eyes and follows the sound. She goes through a ravine in the desert, then follows a cobblestone path. She no longer hears the music. She reaches a room to discover many shelves holding the librex (digital books). Petra feels she can be happy if she remains...
