Sydney, Australia is the setting for all activities in the book that don't occur on Scribbly Gum Island. Sophie had lived there all her life until she is willed Aunt Connie's house on the island. People from Sydney come to the island to view the Munro house and attend the Anniversary. All the hospitals, hotels and major restaurants available to the islanders are all located in Sydney.

Scribbly Gum Island

Scribbly Gum Island is a fictional place where the main characters live. It is the site of the Jack and Alice Munro house where tourists come to tour.

Kingfisher Lookout

Kingfisher Lookout is located on Scribbly Gum Island. It is a nice place to play and have a picnic. It is the site where Rose and Enigma scatter Connie's ashes. It is also the location where Grace first falls in love with her baby.

Aunt Connie's House
