Summary

Selin travels with the other teachers from Budapest to the series of remote, rural villages where they will be staying for the summer. They drive with Peter around the villages, being chosen one by one by the villagers to teach; Selin is amongst the last to be chosen. Selin finds out she will be moved between three families during her trip. She settles in with a woman named Margit and her family, and begins teaching English in the village school.

Then begins a series of memorable experiences with the villagers. A young woman named Reni takes Selin on a trip to the natural history museum, but on the way home they get off the bus too early and have to walk to the home of Reni's boyfriend, who is only 16. Selin has dinner with Mrs Nagy and her family, and has to walk home...
