Summary

Part I, Where?

Cramped – Stan and his wife, Charmaine, have been living in an old Honda. Charmaine feels hopeless, but refuses to say this to help keep Stan’s spirits up. Charmain often finds herself thinking about Grandma Win, and how she would tell Charmaine her mother did not kill herself, and that her father cannot be held accountable for anything because he drank too much. Her grandmother used to say “Let’s make popcorn!” to lighten the mood and cheer Charmaine up.

Where? – Stan feels like a helpless failure, wondering where to turn and what can be done. He hates that his wife must deal with the terror of their living situation, having to frequently find new places to park in the middle of the night because criminals often close in on their car.
