Sarah

Sarah is the protagonist of the novel, a young woman from New York who moves to Bangkok right before the start of the novel. Sarah moves to Bangkok for anonymity, as she has just committed an act of fraud which gave her $200, 000: she sold forged letters to a Hong Kong billionaire named Chan, claiming they were written by famous novelist April Laverty who Sarah worked as an assistant for in New York. After going to Hong Kong to complete the transaction, Sarah chooses Bangkok as haven for con artists and expats from all over the world.
