Point of View

This novel is told from the point of view of an omniscient third person narrator. At different points in the novel, the point of view focuses on one of five different major characters. These characters include Melanie, Parks, Justineau, Caldwell and Gallagher. The outside point of view works well for the novel as it doesn’t allow the reader to get too close to any one of the characters. Each of the characters is developed independently with little interaction until all five of them are thrown together when the army base is overtaken by hungries.
