St. Catherine's Orphan Asylum

St. Catherine’s is the home for orphan girls that Mary and Lillian grow up in. Some of the girls, like Mary, have one parent but stay there because their parents cannot care for them. These children are often teased by the others who have no parents. Other girls, like Lillian, have no parents. All of the girls are cared for by nuns, and Sister Rosemary is especially loved by Mary. When Mary leaves to go live at her aunt’s house, she misses the warmth in the room when Sister Rosemary would tell them stories at night.
