Summary

In Chapter 18, they returned to the apartment complex. Michael had an answering machine message from Mr. Mosley who had come by the have lunch with Michael but found that he was out. Michael continued to pester Ridge to tell him about Y2K but Ridge refused. Instead, Ridge asked Michael why he had not been to play basketball with the three Prince brothers who had invited him. Michael revealed he was anxious. Ridge told Michael that he had a “weighted mind” (139) and that in the future you can get an artificial intelligence upgrade to make you feel less anxious. Ridge said that his mom was opposed to the upgrades and said that people should not be made to feel like their imperfections make them a bad person.
