Chapter 9, Tellings of the Wheel Summary

Rand dreams of being pursued by Trollocs, then of standing before a black mountain. He hears the voice of Shia'tan telling him to serve, but he resists. He feels something reach for him and escapes by leaping off the cliff. Rand then finds himself standing in a field looking at another mountain with a split peak. Below is a city protected by high, gleaming walls and Rand feels he will be safe there. He struggles to reach the city and finally finds himself on a bridge approaching one of the gates, a throng of people around him. The city is a wonderland of sights, sounds and smells.
