Chapters 4, 5 and 6 Summary and Analysis

Chapter 4 - In this chapter, the author describes his efforts to get the signatures of the parents of the members of the Dragon Gang. Those signatures, he is told, will enable him to visit the boys in prison. His initial attempts to find the parents end in frustrating failure, but then what the author portrays as another prayer-based miracle occurs - he is guided to the front door of the father of one of the boys, who read about the author and his mission in the papers and prayed that he (the author) would come. After the man gives the author his signature, the author encounters another member of the gang (Angelo Morales, see "Important People") who takes him around to the homes of the other parents where he gets all the signatures he needs.
