Lorraine Broughton

Lorraine Broughton is the main character of this novel. She is a spy working with M16. After the second agent in charge is killed in Berlin, Lorraine is sent in to try to find a list including the names of all spies from every agency. The idea is to keep that list out of the hands of the Russians.

For her job Lorraine is given the cover name Gladys Lloyd, with the story that she is a lawyer sent by the British to claim the remains of Gascoine, the agent who was killed. Perceval, the head officer in Berlin is obviously infuriated that he has been sent a woman with whom he is to work.

Despite the fact she is a woman, Lorraine quickly begins to gather her own information against Perceval in her attempt to find the list for which she has been hired to look...
