Chapters 3 and 4 Summary

Chapter three: The next morning, Dara wakes to find Mother and Nea by the camp fire. After Dara spends a few minutes in Mother's lap, Nea sends her to fetch water from the well, telling her to look for Nea's cousin Jantu who, Dara comments in narration, was at the meal the night before but who she hadn't paid much attention to because she was just so happy to be eating. At the well, Jantu (who carries her baby brother) calls to Dara, and they wait in line together. They tease each other about their looks, and Nea tells Dara about the daily arrival of a food truck that brings hot meals to the children of Nung Chan. After drawing their water from the well, Dara and Jantu return to the camp, where they help Mother and Sarun build a shelter...
