Summary

Chapter 16

The king questions Nahri and uses his seal to determine her identity. Nahri’s appearance to the king is pure daeva, and the king concludes that she has had a curse cast upon her to make her appear shafit to the everyone else. Nahri tells the king she is Manizeh’s daughter, and Dara informs the king that he is her Afshin. The group discusses Banu Manizeh’s disappearance 20 years earlier when she left Daevabad with her brother to go investigate a blight that had overtaken their healing herbs. Dara reveals his true name to the king, and king realizes that Dara is the daeva who led the rebellion against Zayd al Qatani. Because there is now peace between the tribes King Ghassan offers a pardon and a pension to Dara. He will also acknowledge Nahri as Banu Nahida, daughter of Manizeh...
