Part II: Chapters 9 - 21 Summary

In Chapter 9, Sam Hollis and Lisa make the trip to Mozhaisk to retrieve Gregory Fisher's body from the Russian authorities at the morgue. Through a series of detours keeping them off the main roads, Sam and Lisa arrive at the battlefield at Borodino. Driving deeper into the pine woods near the battlefield, the two find what they believe to be Mrs. Ivanova's Charm School. By this time, KGB patrols have been dispatched and are covering the woods in search of suspected intruders. Sam and Lisa are nearly discovered hiding in the woods by two armed KGB border guards. Sam shoots both of the guards and he and Lisa eventually manage to reach the Mozhaisk morgue.

Chapter 10 opens with Sam and Lisa being debriefed by Colonel Burov. Burov and Hollis engage in a tense interchange, during which Burov...
