Summary

Apollo started his recovery process in jail after losing “three lives”: “a son,” “a wife he’d thought he’d known,” and “a marriage” (131). He was arrested after he visited Emma’s former library with a gun, desperate after his hospital stay and the discovery that Emma disappeared, but not before she had killed Brian. Following his release, “his body took him” (135) to the park he and Brian used to frequent early mornings, where all the “New Dads” brought their children. Now the “New Dads” perceived Apollo’s presence near their children as a threat.
