Summary

Chapter 10 opens in London Nuri takes Afra to the doctor for her medical appointment. Afra says that the last thing she saw before she went blinding was a bomb striking and killing her son Sami. The doctor says that the blindness could either have been caused by the flash of the bomb, or by the trauma of Afra seeing her son’s death. Afra believes it to be the latter cause. Afra then says that Nuri has been exhibiting strange symptoms, such as talking to himself. Nuri dismisses this and says that he feels fine, apart from occasional difficulty sleeping.

The chapter then shifts back to Nuri and Afra in Athens. Nuri tried to speak to the two boys on whom Nadim was preying. At Nadim’s direction, the boys seemed to occasionally be having sex with men for money. Nadim arrived and told...
