Enzo

Enzo is a dog. More specifically, Enzo is a golden Labrador Retriever. Enzo also happens to be the main protagonist and narrator of the novel. Enzo is rather old and he knows that soon he will die. Rather, he knows that his body will expire, his soul will leave this temporal plane and then Enzo knows that he will come back as a man. There is no doubt in his mind that this will be the order of things. For now, though, Enzo is an aging, ailing dog with aching hips.
