Central Florida

Central Florida is where John Green was raised by his parents and is the site of both positive childhood memories and bittersweet adult memories. For example, Green recalls suffering a nervous breakdown after his relationship ended and moving back to his parents' house. The time he spent there was painful, making him feel both juvenile and yet also safe, evoking emotions of self-pity for his current situation but also a sense of comfort in being in a place he is loved and familiar with.
