Summary

In Chapter 1, Rosie Graham stays in her friend Lina Martín’s home while Lina enjoys her honeymoon with her husband, Aaron. The ceiling of Rosie’s apartment collapsed a few days prior. Rosie panics when someone tries to open the locked door. She warns the intruder that she will call the police if they do not stop. The intruder assumes Rosie is joking and is surprised when Rosie calls the cops. While Rosie is on the phone, the intruder explains that he is Lina’s cousin, Lucas. He was not at Lina’s wedding. Rosie feels like an idiot. She has had a crush on this cousin for a while, from stalking his Instagram photos. When Rosie finally opens the door, she finds Lucas lying on the floor. Lucas’ smile and Spanish accent strike her most.
