Trout River

Trout River is a town located in rural China. This is where Momo grows up with his parents. Throughout his childhood, Momo is desperate to leave Trout River. However, over the years following his departure, he often longs for the sounds and scenes of his childhood home. Years later, after Momo moves to America, and after Cassia loses her second baby, Cassia brings Junie to Trout River to live with her grandparents.

Junie does not see her parents' decision as an act of abandonment. She loves the landscape, and is attached to her grandparents. Even when she has the opportunity to join her parents in the States, she decides to stay in Trout River.
