Book Two, Part Twelve, Chapters 70-74 Summary

In Chapter 70, Mary's Rest has come alive. Sister and Josh muse that the evil man's downfall may be that he thinks he is smarter than humans. Swan thinks she is to the earth like Crybaby is to water. Mr. Caidin asks Swan to visit his son, Ben, whose Job's Mask has just fallen off. Before the mask, the boy had a birthmark across his face and a malformed jaw. After the mask Mr. Caidin thinks Ben looks as beautiful as his soul. Sly Moody visits with his friend Bill McHenry. They have a truck full of apples. While crowding around the apples the evil man approaches Swan. She tries to give him an apple but he cannot take it and runs into the woods.
