Summary

In the chapter “Summertime Blues,” Kirby is disappointed because Darren never got back in touch with her about his family party, in fact, she has not heard from him at all. She decides not to let Darren, or any other man, be responsible for her happiness, and focuses on her job. She remembers how Mrs. Bennie told her that Senator Teddy Kennedy was going to be a guest at the inn. She reminded Kirby that it was her job to protect his privacy though Kirby did not really think that she could singlehandedly protect the Senator from a scandal.

While Rajani and Kirby are eating at the Homeport, Darren interrupts their conversation. He is with his father, the judge. Darren tells Kirby that something came up Sunday night and he had been intending to stop by and apologize...
