Point of View

This novel is told from the point of view of a third-person narrator. This narrator is not omniscient, but he tells the story from the focus of several different characters in order to give the reader a full picture of what is happening. For instance, after Alix realizes that Emira is dating Kelley, the author replays this scene from different points of view in order to give the reader the full picture. An overview of the scene is set at the end of Chapter 12 when Alix opens the door to Emira and Kelley. The narrator backs up and in Chapter 13 details Alix’s thoughts both before and after she saw Kelley on her front stoop. Before she opened the door, Alix was excited about Emira being there.
