Summary

The day after Jane was found, Peter and Clara were in the kitchen and Clara was distraught and crying. Peter told her that he used to listen to Jane and her talk about God and that she had to figure out what she believed. Clara attacked Peter asking why he had not cried. Peter wanted to run away after the attack and away from Clara’s pain, however he stayed and pressed her about what she believed. Clara realized she did believe in God and her pain suddenly became more manageable knowing Jane was with God. She thanked Peter and he started to cry and silently prayed that he would never lose Clara. After breakfast, they went to Ben’s house.
