Summary

Perley realizes that the pills are making him hallucinate portals into the afterlife. He attempts to flush them down the toilet, but Grandma Barlow catches him. During a visit, Lily teaches Perley to knit. She uses a combination of coded language and “sending,” a telepathic process which appears in ElfQuest, to tell Perley to use the hollow plastic eggs at the center of his ball of yarn to hide his pills, which he can then give to Lily at each visit for her to dispose of. Grandma Barlow gives Perley a ritual to control black snakes, which Perley gives to Lily at their next visitation.

Meanwhile, Rudy and Helen attempt to take care of Aldi as he recovers from his injury. However, Aldi refuses to see them, so they leave food at his doorstep. After a few days of...
