Chapter 5, In Which There is Much Fighting for the Crown Summary

Tristran wakes the next day and fashions a crutch for the fallen star. The star is still unable to walk, and Tristran makes her a splint as well. Finally able to walk a bit, the pair leaves the glade, and Tristran tries to make conversation. The star remains stubbornly silent until Tristran asks her if she had tripped and therefore fallen from the sky. The star holds up a yellow stone on a chain and tells Tristran indignantly that she had been struck with the stone and was now obliged to carry it with her. The pair continues to struggle and travel along and come to a clearing. A crown is visible and Tristran is about to fetch it when the star holds him back...
