Part 3, Yarn: Chapters 11-13 Summary

Chapter 11. Elke comes to visit the tailor often in his isolated cabin. The tailor meets her outside, loath to have her inside his sparse little home, even though he has come to believe that Elke has some feeling for him. One day, Elke brings the tailor a skein of Saskia's yarn, convinced he would get a kick out of the beauty of the yarn. The tailor asks about the spinner, and when he learns that she is miller's daughter, the tailor realizes they are talking about his own daughter. The tailor insists that Elke contact the girl and trade his spinning wheel for hers, desiring to touch the wheel in the same places where his dead love's fingers once touched it.

Chapter 12. Elke gives the tailor's wheel to Saskia's father and asks him to exchange the wheels...
