Chapters 18-21 Summary

In chapter eighteen, Cliff Baxter is unhappy when he learns that Keith Landry interfered with his men the night before. Cliff is even less happy to learn about the meeting that took place and the people who spoke out against him. Cliff makes a list of the people he intends to get revenge on, including his wife Annie. Cliff goes to the gas station with the sheriff and threatens to take the city and county accounts elsewhere. Cliff also goes to the diner in search of Sherry Kolarik, but finds her already gone. Cliff then goes to Keith's farm and threatens him, giving him six days to get out of town. Cliff then punches Keith in the stomach.

In chapter nineteen, Cliff and Annie have a fight that ends with Cliff telling Annie that he threw her ex-lover out of town...
