Chapter 6 Summary

Misako wakes up at ten, having gotten enough sleep for the first time in weeks. Through the shuttered window, she can see that it is a bright spring day and she feels good getting to lie in bed so long. Most mornings, she gets up early to get Hiroshi ready for school and lets Kaname sleep late. Misako can hear Hiroshi playing in the yard with Lindy and their collie, Peony. Although Misako does not like dogs, Peony has grown on her, and once in a while she pets the dog. Misako thinks about the coming Doll Festival and how she wishes that she did not need to set out all her antique dolls for the holiday.
