Summary

In Chapter 17, when Clint called the prison to warn Vanessa not to let anyone know that Evie was able to wake up normally, Vanessa told him some officers had already been talking to others about Evie using their cell phones. Clint imagined a fairy tale in which he was killed and the jail was no longer his problem. He tried to get Vanessa to tell the officers to call the people back they had told about Evie and say they were mistaken. Vanessa refused to do so. She said she had called her sister and the news had given her some hope. She did not want to destroy that hope.
