Simon and Blue's Emails

For both Simon and Blue/Bram, their emails represent safety (in that they can communicate without the risk of being outed, and therefore facing the dangers associated with being known as gay). With that in mind, they also represent an opportunity to be vulnerable, openly and honestly connecting with each other. This is also true for Martin who, late in the narrative, uses the relative safety of email communication to again apologize to Simon. This is in contrast to the relative danger of face-to-face communication, which is how Martin offered his first apology and which resulted in him being blasted with Simon's anger.
