Summary

In Chapter 28, considering the Duke’s age and situation, Emma began to doubt that he was responsible for taking Aiden. During a discussion with Jake, Jake insisted that the Duke could have hired people to take Aiden. He changed the subject and told Emma she should finish setting up the nursery so she would remember that she had two children. He told her what he considered to be the truth about Aiden’s situation, that he was a danger to the baby and that he needed professional help. When Aiden came into the kitchen and mechanically made toast and ate it without acknowledging that she was there, Emma wondered if Jake was right.
