Summary

In Chapter 15, Mal went on a hunt to make friends with the king’s army. Alina talked to Nikolai, who told her he was rebuilding the Hummingbird so they could escape if the Darkling won the war. Alina said she would not flee, but agreed that the king and queen along with Baghra should escape if the Darkling breeched the walls.

In Chapter 16, Alina talked to David, the Grisha Fabrikator who had welded the antler necklace around her throat. David said that Morozova had been called the Bonesmith because he made amplifiers the same way that the Darkling made his shadow monsters—through Merzost. Legend had it that the Black Heretic was attempting to recreate Morozova’s experiments when he accidentally created The Fold.
