Summary

Chapter six picks up where chapter three leaves off, with Bridget dusting. It is still August 3rd. As Bridget dusts she thinks about Mrs. Borden before finding aprons among Lizzie’s things, which strikes her as odd. Her thoughts are interrupted by a knock on the door.

She answers to find John Morse, Mr. Borden’s deceased wife’s brother, standing at the door. She invited him in and takes his coat before Mrs. Borden arrives to see who has come calling. John tells Abby that he told Lizzie he would be visiting in a letter weeks ago, which Bridget attributes to Lizzie’s petty and selfish behavior.
