At 4 a.m., Jane wakes up in the Mandeville Hospital. Meral Johnson is at her bedside and assures her that she's safe. Peter, claiming to be Max Westerhuis, gains entrance to Jane's hospital room that afternoon. Peter and Jane hold each other and begin to make plans for their own escape. Peter insists the hospital isn't safe, and Jane says that the killers had her on the previous evening, that they only wanted to know Peter's whereabouts. They plan to meet on Wednesday in Washington.

Meanwhile, Damian is in Cape John planning the final stage of the "season." He thinks of "the massacre," Carrie's escape, then his own, and a new face to the scene - a killer named Clive Lawson.
