Summary

Chapter 25 begins with Sylvie’s return to the Netherlands following the Venice trip. Sylvie and Lukas arrived at Willem and Helena’s home to see Grandma. However, Willem and Helena informed them that Grandma died while Sylvie and Lukas were in Venice. Grandma chose to undergo euthanasia. Sylvie and Lukas looked at the document that Grandma had signed in the presence of a doctor to express her desire for euthanasia. Sylvie was devastated that she had not been with Grandma in her final moments. Helena then spitefully informed Sylvie that she threw away Sylvie’s Tasha doll after Grandma died. A few days later, Grandma’s funeral was held. Sylvie felt a deep sense of loss and grief, and she felt that her love for Lukas was the only source of happiness she had left.
