Summary

In Chapter 7, Anna visited the library to research Kofi Adjei. She discovered Kofi's book Memoirs of a Freedom Fighter, through which she learned more about her father's life and identity. The memoir seemed self-aggrandizing to Anna. Not long after joining "the National Union of Railway Workers," he "rose to the position of secretary general" (61). In 1971 he "founded the Diamond Coast Liberation Group" (61). Anna kept reading. She saw how her father had morphed from the Messiah "into the Crocodile" (65).

In Chapter 8, Anna and Rose skyped. They both noticed how the other had lost weight. Because Rose had a history with eating disorders, Anna was worried by Rose's appearance. They talked about the divorce. Rose had sided with Anna after Robert’s affair and was not speaking to Robert. Then they talked about Bamana. Anna was careful not to tell Rose everything.
