Chapters 110-115 Summary

On Monday, Alex and Sampson return to Hazelwood to watch Szabo. His privileges to leave the institution still had not been returned, and he mopes around the hospital floor. When Szabo does nothing to attract attention, Alex suggests lifting his restrictions so that he may reveal himself. While Alex and Sampson work at the hospital, Betsey is conducting her own research. She interviews First Union Bank employees who worked with Szabo when he was employed there. She learns that he was known as a perfectionist. He was focused on efficiency and his coworkers had jokingly named him the Mastermind.

The next day Szabo brushes past Alex before leaving the building. When Alex realizes that Szabo is leaving Hazelwood he pursues him. Alex notices that Szabo's nervous tics decrease and eventually ceases as he gains distance from the hospital. Alex wonders if...
