Summary

In Chapter 15, the family arrives at the Shelby Church of the New Covenant. The church is outwardly ostentatious – the kind of church Samuel has always avoided before now. Miriam steps out of the van with the certainty “A miracle will happen here” (253). During this revival, Samuel has claimed in front of congregations that he healed people with heart disease and diabetes, all while staring straight at Miriam. Reverend Dixon leads them to the revival location. Miriam feels the tent resembles a circus tent. There are about 600 chairs – larger than their usual revival spots. While Samuel is looking around, Miriam evaluates the place she will heal Hannah. Back at the house where they are staying, Miriam thinks about Mrs. Cade's words.
