Next morning, Matthias informs Julian that he has conquered and reminds him of his vow to the shrews and to Snow. Admiring the sword, Julian warns against becoming too ambitious, and using the sword only for good - and wisely. Snow and Julian agree to share blame for their breakup and return together to the barn. Newly-confident, Matthias laughs for the first time in days and everyone joins in. Meanwhile, Cluny is also renewed. He gives them a day to recuperate, during which the defenders make repairs and collect rubble to drop on the enemy when it attacks again.
